Frequently Asked Questions

Simply put, Peer Support is where people use their own experiences to help each other. Peer Support helps build connections and is a supportive relationship between two people sharing a common experience.

What is peer support?

During Peer Support you will find acceptance and the reassurance that you are not alone. Peer Supporters offer a listening ear, hope, and often strategies and information that will help you view things in a different way.

What can I expect to get out of Peer Support?

You control how much to share with Peer Supporters. It’s very normal to find it difficult to open up, and feel nervous and sharing experiences. Think about what you want from Peer Support, and don’t be afraid to ask questions. If Peer Support isn’t right for you, that’s ok! It just might not be the right fit, or the right support for you at this time.

What is a Peer Supporter?

Our Peer Supporters are volunteers and former jurors, some from very difficult trials. Peer Supporters have participated in jury service and understand the challenges and issues you are experiencing. All Peer Supporters are trained and certified to deliver support to you.

Discussing jury deliberations is not permitted. But often the details are not as important as the emotional experience/impact to grow and move beyond the event.
